THE INVINCIBLE YOUThere's nothing to fear —- you're as good as the best, As strong as the mightiest, too; You CAN win in every battle or test For there's no one just like you. There's only one you in the world today 'Cause nobody else, you see, Can do your work in as fine a way: You're the ONLY one there'll be! So face the world, and all life is yours To conquer and love and live, And you'll find the happiness that endures In just the measure you give. There's nothing too good for you to possess, Nor heights where you cannot go: Your power is more than belief or guess —- It is something you have to KNOW. There is nothing to fear —- you can and you will, For you ARE the invincible you, Set your foot upon the highest hill —- There's NOTHING you cannot do. ~ Author Unknown ~
IT'S IN THE VALLEYS I GROW
Sometimes life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble and woe It's then I have to remember That it's in the valleys I grow. If I always stayed on the mountain top And never experienced pain, I would never appreciate Goodness And would be living in vain. I have so much to learn, And my growth is very slow, Sometimes I need the mountain tops, But it's in the valleys I grow. Please forgive me for complaining When I'm feeling so very low. Just give me a gentle reminder That it's in the valleys I grow. I give thanks for those valleys, For there's one thing that I know The mountain tops are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow! ~ Jane Eggleston ~
LIFE IS A MIRACLE
Life is a miracle don’t let it slip away, Open your heart to others, give of yourself each day. See the beauty in everyone, regardless of where they’ve been, Some have a difficult journey and really need a friend. Share your gifts and talents, listen with your heart. Do the things you dream about but don’t have time to start. Pick a bouquet of flowers, show someone that you care, Be gracious and forgiving, for life is never fair. Hold on to your courage, you may need it down the road, We all have a cross to bear, it could be a heavy load. If you practice all these things, wherever you may roam, You might find both sun and rain, but you’ll never feel alone! ~ Author Unknown
The Little Things
Too often we don't realize what we have until it is gone; Too often we wait too late to say "I'm sorry - I was wrong." Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones we hold dearest to our hearts; And we allow foolish things to tear our lives apart. Far too many times we let unimportant things into our minds; And then it's usually too late to see what made us blind. So be sure that you let people know how much they mean to you; Take that time to say the words before your time is through. Be sure that you appreciate everything you've got, And be thankful for the little things in life that mean a lot. ~By Regina Riggs
THE SIZE OF YOUR HEART It isn't the size of your house as such That matters so much at all; It's the gentle hand and its loving touch, That make it great or small. The friends who come and the hour they go, Who out of your house depart, Will judge it not by the style you show, But rather by the size of your heart. It isn't your status in life so much, It isn't the wealth you found, That will make you happy — it's how you touch The lives that are all around. For making money is not hard — To live life well is an art: How people love you, how they regard, Is all in the size of your heart ~Author Unknown (Perhaps, Edward Guest) from FunTown.com
How Many Friends Have You? An old man turned to me and asked, "How many friends have you?" "Why, ten or twenty friends have I," and I named off just a few. He smiled a knowing smile at me and sadly shook his head, "How lucky you must be to have so many friends," he said. "But think of what you're saying. There's so much that you don't know! A friend is just not someone to whom you say 'Hello'! A friend's a tender shoulder on which to softly cry, A well to pour your troubles down and raise your spirits high. A friend's a hand to pull you up from darkness and despair, When all your other so-called 'friends' have helped to put you there! A true friend is an ally who can't be moved or bought, A voice to keep your name alive when others have forgot. But most of all a friend's a heart, a strong and sturdy wall, For from the hearts of friends there comes the greatest love of all! So think of what I've spoken, for every word is true. And answer once again, my child, how many friends have you?" And then he stood and faced me, awaiting my reply. I smiled at him and answered,
"At least ONE friend have I!" Thanks for being MY FRIEND! ~Author Unknown
TRUE FRIENDS
Like aneedle in a haystack true friends are hard to find, That's why I'm so thankful that I can call you mine.
WheneverI need a shoulder you're there to catch my tears, You've kept my many secrets Throughout the many years.
You'vebeen there through my afflictions You've witnessed my defeats, I'll remember all the good times And pray the bad ones don't repeat.
With you my heart is honest but there's one thing I never told you ... Thank you for everything you've done! There'sno one else like you ...
No one that could ever be a true "best" friend like you!
ALWAYS REMEMBER
Always remember to forget the things that made you sad. But never forget to REMEMBER the things that made you glad... Always remember to forget the friends that proved untrue. But don't forget to REMEMBER those that have stuck by you... Always remember to forget the troubles that have passed away. But never forget to REMEMBER the blessings that come each day...
IF YOU HAVE A DREAM If you have a dream ... Don't wait for some distant day to come, it may be too late before you've even begun. Not everyone will agree with all you decide ... Sometimes "the majority" only means that all the fools are on the same side. Be true to yourself first and foremost ... The only important thing in life is what you do with the time you spend here on earth. Don't be afraid to follow your desires ... They are neither silly nor selfish; take the time and do what makes you feel alive. Leave your fears and regrets in the past ... Our eyes are placed in front because it's more important to look ahead than to look back. If you look back, your journey is ended ... You have only today to begin anew and follow your dreams, for in the end, all we have are our memories. Do not quiet your dreams ... When the twilight comes to us, let there be no excuses, no explanations, no regrets! ~ Author Unknown ~
IT MIGHT You never know when someone might catch a dream from you. You never know when a little word or something that you might do, May open up a window of a mind that seeks the light; The way you live may not matter at all, But you never know ... it might. And just in case it could be That another's life, through you, Might possibly change for the better with a broader, brighter view, It seems it might be worth a try to do what you know is Right; Of course, it may not matter at all, but then again, it might! ~ Author Unknown ~
A PLACE FOR ME
There is a special place in life, that needs my humble skill, A certain job I'm meant to do, which no one else can fulfill. The time will be demanding, the pay is not too good, And I wouldn't change it for a moment, even if I could. There is a special place in life, a goal I must attain, A dream that I must follow because I won't be back again. There is a mark that I must leave, however small it seems to be. A legacy of love for those who follow after me. There is a special place in life, that only I may share. A little path that bears my name, awaiting me somewhere. There is a hand that I must hold, a word that I must say, A smile that I must give, for there are tears to blow away. There is a special place in life that I was meant to fill. A sunny spot where flowers grow, upon a windy hill. There's always a tomorrow and the best is yet to be, For somewhere in this world, I know there is a place for me. ~© Grace E. Easley
TOUCH MY HEART ♥Touch my heart and I'll touch yours with a gentle word or two, ♥For kindness bears the sweetest fruit that makes our dreams come true. ♥Touch my life with tenderness and fill my cup with love; ♥Share my dreams as I share yours beyond the stars above. ♥Take my hand as I grow old and lead me when I'm blind; ♥Show me that you really care … pure love is hard to find. ♥Touch my heart and I'll touch yours a little more each day; ♥Then we shall both find happiness somewhere along the way.
RIPPLES Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone; But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on, Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea. And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be. Drop a pebble in the water: in a minute you forget, But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet, And those little waves a-flowing to a great big wave have grown; You've disturbed a mighty river just by dropping in a stone. Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute it is gone; But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on. They keep spreading, spreading, spreading from the center as they go, And there is no way to stop them, once you've started them to flow. Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute you forget; But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet, And perhaps in some sad heart a mighty wave of tears you've stirred, And disturbed a life was happy ere you dropped that unkind word. Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone; But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on, Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave Till you wouldn't believe the volume of the one kind word you gave. Drop a word of cheer and kindness: in a minute you forget; But there's gladness still a-swelling, and there's joy circling yet, And you've rolled a wave of comfort whose sweet music can be heard Over miles and miles of water just by dropping one kind word. ~ By James W. Foley (1874-1939) Poet-laureate of North Dakota 1930-1939 Strength and CourageIt takes strength to be certain, It takes courage to have doubts. It takes strength to fit in, It takes courage to stand out. It takes strength to share a friend's pain, It takes courage to feel your own pain. It takes strength to hide your own pain, It takes courage to show it and deal with it. It takes strength to stand guard, It takes courage to let down your guard. It takes strength to conquer, It takes courage to surrender. It takes strength to endure abuses, It takes courage to stop them. It takes strength to stand alone, It takes courage to lean on a friend. It takes strength to love, It takes courage to be loved. It takes strength to survive, It takes courage to live. ~ David L. Griffith, Writer/Poet - The PalletMaster's Workshop
☆☼THE LIGHT IN YOU☼☆ I've seen the light
and it's in you ...
in everything you are
and in everything you do. It's a perfect light that
shines for all to see;
in fact it shines so brightly,
it's pierced the heart of me. The light is from a friend,
it's a light that keeps me warm;
it lets me know how loved I am
and keeps me safe from harm. FOR YOU I AM THANKFUL
in so very many ways,
and you lift up my spirits
each and every day. To know that you are there for me
makes me feel alive;
it is your friendship's light upon
which my own love thrives. Though 'thank you' isn't good enough,
they're the only words I know,
to say your light of friendship
gives my world its glow. It's the simple things in life
that are truly unforgettable Thanks for sharing your light with me ... ~ Author Unknown
THE OYSTER
There once was an oyster whose story I tell, Who found that some sand had got into his shell. It was only a grain, but it gave him great pain For oysters have feelings although they're so plain. Now, did he berate the harsh workings of fate? That brought him to such a deplorable state? Did he curse at the government, cry for election, And claim that the sea should have given him protection? No- he said to himself as he lay on a shell, Since I cannot remove it I shall try to improve it. Now the years have rolled around, as the years always do. And he came to his ultimate destiny: stew. And the small grain of sand that had bothered him so Was a beautiful pearl all richly aglow? Now the tale has a moral, for isn't it grand What an oyster can do with a morsel of sand?
What couldn't we do if we'd only begin? With some of the things that get under our skin? Author Unknown
